ABOUT… THE MAKER

All designs were created by a bubbly French chick, Domi. She comes from Châteaudun, a tiny medieval city located about 2 hours in the South-West of Paris. She has always enjoyed spreading the love about my native language and culture. Whenever someone discovers that she is French – her accent betrays her all the time – they’ll try to speak whatever French they know to her.

ABOUT… THE NAME

BIZU – pronounce it bee-zoo – comes from a brainstorming session with non-French speakers. I wanted to find an easy French word that everyone could pronounce, recognise and memorise.

The correct writing is bisou. It means “kiss” in French

ABOUT… THE BUSINESS

Domi has always been fascinated by people’s T-shirt. Not to sound creepy, but she often stares at someone’s shirt if she finds it cool. The design or the text on it always tells a lot about your personality and interests. She has seen many T-shirts in Australia with French words on them. From the simple “Oui” (yes) to a more sophisticated “Je parle français[e]”, it is pretty common down under.

French language, culture, and country, in general, seem to mesmerise heaps of Aussies. Actually, lots of locals learn or speak the language of Molière. French is the 4th most taught foreign language in Victoria for instance. And the French expat community in Australia represents over 20,000 people.

For all these reasons, she has started my clothing label BIZU to French up your style!

ABOUT… THE T-SHIRTS

All T-shirts were made in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. While taking a few months’ break to focus on the clothing project, she got in touch with a T-shirt printing company. All pieces of clothing are 100% cotton. Vietnam being well-known for its textile factories, she decided to trust and help a local company to get my designs printed on tees.

Gecko is the company behind the screen print job. They have been working in this field for many years now. And, their business, located in Saigon, is attracting both locals and expats. They used the screen printing technique which consists in printing a design by using photo emulsion process. Screen printing is high quality, professional looking, versatile and durable.
