Inside out with Be Parisian

Rencontre with Emmanuelle Legavre, Parisienne, fashion designer and illustrator at Be Parisian.

How did you come to illustration and later fashion design?

I draw, archive images and like contact of raw materials since childhood, it was an evidence,

I like my job and I am very lucky. I naturally built myself a multi-faceted identity,

between my career as a designer, artist and illustrator.

How do you define the Parisian?

I use Loïc Prigent’s tweet “the Parisian [woman] wears Chanel as if it were Monoprix

and Monoprix as if it were Chanel”,  which perfectly sums up what is, to me,

the height of the chic of the Parisian woman. And, of course, my mysterious, fascinating,

free and audacious, driven by her mood which I have fun at delineating

for the clothing and accessories of Be Parisian.

What is the mood Rive Gauche? What is the mood Rive Droite?

Rive Droite or Rive Gauche are just excuses, Paris belongs to the Parisian.

She reinvents herself and takes ownership of Paris’ style regardless of

 the arrondissement where she is.

How would you define your mood board to get your inspiration?

I feed myself with exhibitions, travels,  and social networks as well,

a large book open on the world.

Can you name us an Iconic Parisienne?

Spontaneously, Caroline de Maigret, a stylish woman with an attitude, as my dad says.

But my absolute icon remains Françoise Hardy, embodiment of THE chic ‘parisienne’

and timeless source of inspiration since the 1960s.

What is your must-have accessory?

My oversized scarves from Be Parisian, which I wear in endless ways…

Depending on my mood!

A hidden place in Paris?

L\'Hôtel Particulier in the XVIIIth arrondissement, the smallest hotel of Paris.

A magical place with a wild and bucolic garden.

I like to go with my "amoureux" (lover) for a drink, a dinner,

for a moment of pure escape.
