An iconic French brand since 1889,
made in Normandy
The organic cotton and the illustration, perfect reflect of our Parisienne mood
Everything... of course it's Saint James, the brand that all French know
The company SAINT JAMES is located in Lower Normandy, in the commune of Saint-James, near Mont Saint-Michel, since 1889.
Its notoriety was forged on a cult garment "the true Breton sweater knitted in pure virgin wool", originally intended for fishermen, then adopted by the great sailors and boaters.
Its collections "edge of the sea", pure wool, pure cotton, attract a large clientele on the coasts but also in the big cities of the hexagon, as in Europe, the United States, Canada and Japan.
Shops SAINT JAMES are present in Paris, Nice, Mont Saint-Michel, Saint-Malo, Strasbourg, Lyon, Granville, Biarritz, New York, Tokyo, Osaka …
Around 1850, Saint James, a commune in Lower Normandy, 20 kilometres from the Mont Saint-Michel, saw the birth of a real industrial adventure.
The Legallais family starts spinning and dyeing so-called country wool. It was then sold, in the form of skeins and balls of wool, to the haberdashery of Brittany and Normandy, then underwear: real woollen shirts that gave birth to the Fishermen's Sweater.
It is Leon LEGALLAIS, Mayor of Saint James, who will transform a workshop into a real industry.
